Information on climate change

Regional

The New Energy and Climate Programme in Saxony became applicable in 2012.

The Saxon State Ministry for the Environment and Agriculture (SMUL) and the State Agency for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG) provide information on climate change in Saxony and its impact on agriculture, forestry and water management. 

Saxony's  Action Plan - Climate and Energy 2008 brings together for the first time measures on climate change, on securing a sustainable energy supply and on adaption to climate change in Saxony.

 

National

Federal Ministry for the Environment (Bundesumweltministerium - BMU): Information on Germany’s strategy of adaption

Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundsamt - UBA): Information on climate protection, climate change and adaption 

The Competence Centre Climate Impact and Adaption (KomPass) in the Federal Environmental Agency issues guidelines and is a contact partner for Germany’s climate adaption activities.

“klimazwei – Reducing Risks – Seizing Opportunities” is a project funded by Germany’s Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) aimed at developing practically-oriented strategies of action.

A team of natural scientists, economists, political scientists and communication experts at the Climate Service Center works to derive practically-oriented know-how from climate research and to disseminate this knowledge to decision-makers in the worlds of politics, administration and business as well as to the general public.   

 

International

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has the task of evaluating the risks of global warming and compiling strategies of prevention and adaption.
